GROOMING SUPPLIES:
Most of the grooming items you will find available in pet stores and department stores. Online is also a good source and you may find better quality. I have placed an * next to must have cannot do without items. Remember to use TLC when grooming your baby!
De-matting comb. helps locate tangles & does not cut the hair. ***
A straight pin brush. This type glides through the hair use with a light hand. **
A soft slicker great for the underside & paws. The only time recommend for use on the entire body is for dogs in puppy-cuts. A slicker for smaller jobs use with care.**
A flea comb. However I use it to remove debris from the eye area.
A face comb. This is a very small comb. It is good to remove debris around the eyes & beard. You can use a black comb. **
A Butter comb has wider teeth than a face comb. This is a very small comb. It is good to remove debris around the eyes & beard. You can use a black comb. **
A good pair of grooming shears will last a long time, I personally use a pair bought from Sally’s. **
Small curved scissors to cut away the hair on the paw pads and eye area. This one is a must if you aren’t planning on taking your dog to the groomers a lot. **
A gentle shampoo, such as baby shampoo. **
A good conditioner. **
Detangler, I Like to use a de-tangling, silicone spray prior to working on the coat. I use better quality detanglers like MOA or Crown Royal Magic coat #3, as it can also be used as a GREAT finishing spray. For different uses I just change the dilution proportions. **
ALUMINUM_FREE BAKING SODA & water to make a paste to clean my dog’s teeth. **
CORN STARCH as an ear powder & my fingers to pluck the hair from my dog’s ears. **
Dog Clippers for around rear ends in between professional grooming.
I suggest a pet blow dryer.
